Leaked rumors suggest, Apple’ secret research unit comprises of hundreds of employees, who are working on Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), exploring ways the emerging technologies could be used in future Apple products.
“Apple has been in the wings all this time without any headset at all, although the company’s aspirations in AR have been clear and well-telegraphed on iPhones and iPads for years. Each year, Apple’s made significant strides on iOS with its AR tools,” reports CNet .
Economic Daily News reported that Guo Minghao, an analyst at Tianfeng International Securities, stated in a report that AR is one of the key businesses for Apple’s future growth. According to the report, Minghao believes that “Apple will become a leader in the field of augmented reality, mainly because it requires huge investment, software and hardware integration capabilities, and design innovative human-computer interaction capabilities.”

According to leaker Jon Prosser, Apple will call the smart glasses the “Apple Glass,” an unusual choice of name because of the similarity to the name of Google Glass, which had been on the market long before Apple’s rumored AR glasses.

It’s said the glasses will probably look just like regular glasses, with both lenses featuring displays that users can interact with gestures.
According to Prosser, the Apple Glass will start at $499 plus prescription add-ons like lenses.
