MultiTech Introduces Global Models of its Award-Winning MultiTech Dragonfly Embedded Modem

Single SKU provides worldwide LTE Category 4 connectivity to significantly simplify supply chain management for global IoT deployments.
Multi-Tech Systems, Inc., today announced the availability of the new Dragonfly™ 4G-LTE Cat 4 global capable embedded cellular modem.
This first-of-its-kind device addresses the complexity of global IoT deployments by supporting 19 LTE bands (4G Cat 4), 7 WCDMA bands (3G HSPA+), 4 GSM bands (2G EGPRS), and includes an integrated GNSS receiver to enable global location-based services.
“With more than 60 different LTE bands in use around the world, global deployments to date have required managing several distinct radio devices for different regions, even when the finished product is otherwise the same worldwide,” said Rick Bailey, MultiTech senior product manager.
“By ensuring this device communicates with at least one LTE band in every country, our customers can streamline their supply chain, manufacturing and logistics with a single embedded modem for the whole world.”
The Dragonfly family of embedded cellular SoMs and modems are fully certified and MNO approved, ready-to-integrate modules that offer developers the functionality of a programmable computing platform with the convenience of an onboard cellular radio all in one compact design. The new global capable Dragonfly cellular modem is currently certified for use in North America, Europe and Australia.
“We continue to work closely with our customers to identify and address obstacles to their success with products tailored to eliminate critical pain points,” Bailey continues. “This device is the first of a planned portfolio of global capable modems, routers and gateways customers can expect to see from MultiTech over the coming months and years.”
