Amazon unveils new generation of Fire HD 8 tablets with improved speeds, storage and Kids Edition


The assorted colors of Amazon’s new Fire HD 8 tablets. (Amazon Photo) Targeting a whole family of tablet users, Amazon introduced the latest versions of its lineup of Fire HD 8 devices on Wednesday, promising faster performance, more storage, easier charging and more.
The new Fire HD 8 is 30 percent faster and comes with 32 and 64GB storage options. Battery life has been extended to up to 12 hours. Offered in white, black, twilight blue, and plum, the tablet starts at $89.99. A limited-time-only two pack bundle is priced at $159.99.

A wireless charging dock allows for an upright display of the tablet, and a 9W in-box adapter will charge the device in less than four hours. The Plus comes in a new slate color, is bundled for a limited time with six months of Kindle Unlimited and is priced at $109.99.
The Fire HD8 Kids Edition. (Amazon Photo) The Fire HD 8 Kids Edition comes bundled with the Fire HD 8l tablet and a year of Amazon FreeTime Unlimited which offers access to more 20,000 kid friendly books, videos, apps, games, and more.
Families who want kids using screen time to keep up with home schooling these days will find 1,500 educational titles within FreeTime, organized by core curriculum and extracurricular topics, such as math, science, exercise, art, and virtual field trips.
Wrapped in a kid-proof case, the Kids Edition has and a two-year guarantee and is priced at $139.99.

All of the new tablets are available for pre-order starting today and will begin shipping on June 3.
