Ford Mustang convertible top inoperable for down operation.

My 2007 Mustang convert. top won`t go down. Started down, got to about 6` open then stopped. It will engage to go back up, but won`t go down. Have checked all fuses, OK. When I press the down switch I can hear the top motor running. It indicates a mechanical problem but what do you think and how do I get to it to check for broken or disengaged linkage It appears the

top operating mechanism can only be reached by removing the rear seat. How do I do that Hi, I`m a moderator for this topic and I wonder whether you`re still waiting for an answer. We`ll be in touch again shortly The bottom of the seat has the usual button clips, pop those and remove the bottom seat, the back seat has two 10mm bolts at the bottom sides, pull then lift the seat straight up, it has two tabs that latch into the seat support. If you feel under the front edge of the seat, there are buttons one on each side, push them in towards the rear of the car, and lift up at the same time, that should get you moving. the motor is two-toned - one end is silver and the other a brass-like color. There is a black rubber "plug" in the end of the silver part, which is the hydraulic reservoir. Pry that up a little to be able to place (I used) needle nose pliers under the lip of the plug and pry it up until it comes out. (the plug looks really oversized and you`ll wonder how you`re going to be able to get that back in.
