12V Power Supply Circuits
Four simple 12V power supply circuits are designed to provide output voltages close to 12V. The first power supply circuit utilizes a BD139 transistor, a zener diode, and several passive components. Each schematic is straightforward to assemble and will operate...
Multivibrator
In a previous chapter, the use of a transistor as an electronic switch was discussed. This chapter will explore how one transistor can switch another. The diagram illustrates a pair of cross-coupled transistors. The input push buttons of the circuit...
Battery charger
A diac is utilized in the gate circuit to enable operation for the signal applied to the gate. R1 sets a threshold level for triggering the triac. C3 and R4 are chosen to restrict the maximum charging current, forming a...
Two-Transistor Sine-Wave Oscillator
This oscillator employs two transistors and operates the crystal in its fundamental mode. Capacitors CT and C2 should be approximately 2,700 pF for 1 MHz, 680 pF for 5 MHz, and 330 pF for 10 MHz. A capacitance of 150...
One transistor audio mixer (2N3563)
This circuit mixer features internal amplification using a 2N3563 transistor. Two input signals can be independently adjusted via VRI and VR2. The VR3 balance control allows for the attenuation of one signal while the other remains active. Additionally, the transistor...
Put-battery-charger
A short-circuit-proof battery charger provides an average charging current of approximately 8 A to a 12-V lead/acid storage battery. The charger circuit has the additional advantage of being unaffected and undamaged by incorrect battery connections. With an input voltage of...
Transistorized flasher
This simple circuit will flash a 6-volt lamp at a rate determined by the size of capacitor C1. It is most economical on power as it only draws current when the lamp is on. When the lamp is off, both...
Battery Charger Regulator
Most commercial car battery chargers cannot be left connected to the battery for extended periods, as this can lead to overcharging and subsequent battery damage. This add-on circuit is connected in series with the battery being charged and is powered...
Three transistor audio amplifier
This circuit diagram illustrates a simple three-transistor audio amplifier capable of delivering approximately 100 mW of power to a 25 Ohm speaker. Diodes D1 and D2 provide a constant bias voltage for transistors Q1 and Q2. Transistor Q1 functions as...
