magnetics application schematics
Calibrate the measurement circuit by applying a known current to the conductor and measuring the resulting voltage output. If the displacement between the sensor and conductor changes, recalibration is necessary. This sensor circuit is capable of measuring both DC and...
Absolute-Value Meter With Polarity Detector
This circuit separates an input voltage signal into its components: (1) the absolute value and (2) the polarity or 'sign' (+ or -). It is designed to handle direct current (DC) signals.
The circuit operates by utilizing operational amplifiers (op-amps) to...
interfacing with the energy detective
The Energy Detective (TED) is an affordable and user-friendly device designed to monitor the electricity usage of an entire household. It functions similarly to a more advanced version of a traditional utility company power meter, which can be conveniently placed...
Micro Ampere Meter
The microampere meter provides full-scale deflection for a 0.1 V input. The current to be measured flows through a known resistor.
The microampere meter is an essential instrument used for measuring very low currents in the microampere range. It operates on...
Circuit to Measure Power Supply Voltages
To obtain the power supply graphs on the previous page, the circuit is designed to independently monitor the power sources with the addition of a few resistors. Diode D3 allows the solar panel voltage to charge the batteries, while the...
Coulomb meter
Another cause of voltage drift is the input current of IC1, which slowly charges capacitor C1. This effect is particularly noticeable when the output voltage is approximately 0 volts.
The circuit in question involves an integrated circuit (IC1) whose input current...
high side current measurements
It is often challenging to measure the current in the positive lead of a power supply, such as a battery charger. Fortunately, specialized integrated circuits (ICs) have been developed for this purpose in recent years, including the Burr-Brown INA138 and...
Mathematical approch to measuring current voltage and resistance of mixed series and parallel
There is one significant low-impedance node in the entire circuit, referred to as 0V, located at the frame and the intersection in the middle. The upper voltage source is connected to this midpoint through a 1kΩ resistor, indicating that the...
Harmonics-generator
A simple frequency multiplier consists of two comparators and a summing amplifier that generate differential harmonic spectra. This circuit is capable of extracting harmonics from various waveforms, including sine, triangle, sawtooth, or other sloped waveforms. When a sloped-input waveform is...
