The 74273 is a high-speed octal D-type flip-flop integrated circuit featuring edge-triggered functionality and an asynchronous master reset. This component contains eight individual D-type flip-flops with a common clock and clear input, making it ideal for applications requiring synchronous data storage and transfer. The device operates with positive-edge triggered clocking and provides buffered outputs capable of driving low-impedance loads.
Constructed using advanced silicon-gate CMOS technology, the 74273 offers the low power consumption typical of CMOS circuits while maintaining high noise immunity and the ability to drive 15 LSTTL loads. The clear function is asynchronous and active-low, overriding both the clock and data inputs when asserted.
The 74273 finds use in numerous digital system applications including:
The 74273 is available in multiple package options:
The 74273 octal D-type flip-flop features eight edge-triggered flip-flops with individual D inputs and Q outputs. The common clock (CP) input loads all flip-flops simultaneously on the low-to-high transition of the clock pulse. The asynchronous clear (CLR) input, when low, resets all outputs to low regardless of the state of other inputs.
Data at the D inputs meeting the setup time requirements is transferred to the Q outputs on the positive-going edge of the clock pulse. Clock triggering occurs at a voltage level and is not directly related to the rise time of the clock pulse. Following the hold-time interval, data at the D input may be changed without affecting the output levels.
Where: L = Low level, H = High level, X = Don't care, ↑ = Low-to-High transition, Qn = Previous output state
